The Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection maintains an official presence on Social Media and utilizes their capabilities, aiming to inform the public directly and in real time, both on issues of prevention and protection against natural and man-made disasters or emergency situations, as well as on its actions and work, encouraging direct communication with citizens.
The management of the accounts maintained by the Ministry on Social Media is carried out by the Press and Public Relations Office of the Ministry (hereinafter “the administrator”), on the basis of a specific management and usage policy framework, for reasons concerning the proper functioning of these accounts:

Users-members of Social Media (hereinafter “users-members”) are encouraged to express their opinions on the Ministry’s accounts, while at the same time demonstrating due respect in their communication with the Ministry as well as with each other. Users-members must refrain from posting, publishing, and sending messages on the accounts maintained by the Ministry on Social Media that contain:
a) Content that is defamatory, abusive, offensive against specific groups based on their ethnic/racial origin/religion/gender, etc., or otherwise unlawful in any way, including under intellectual property law.
b) Content or other material that promotes violence and racism or could incite behavior constituting a criminal offense or cause civil liability.
c) Content or other material of the “spam” type that is unrelated to the subject of the specific post, is linked to malicious websites, contains viruses or suspicious files, has an advertising/promotional nature for services and products, or is repeated in a systematic and/or disruptive manner for the community.
In the event of a violation of the terms of this announcement, the administrator is entitled, without prior notice, to:
a) Immediately delete the specific content.
b) Block/report the users-members who violate the above terms.
c) Take any legal measure at its discretion to prevent the specific act and any damage caused to third parties.
The Ministry bears no responsibility for comments/positions-opinions/content not posted by itself, as well as for any damage these may cause to third parties. Consequently, the reproduction of such comments/positions-opinions/content in a manner implying that they reflect the views of the Ministry is not permitted.
Under no circumstances should the Ministry be considered to endorse or accept the content, products, or services of websites to which it may refer. The Ministry’s Social Media accounts are not available for the promotion or advertising of businesses, nor generally for purposes of commercial exploitation.
Furthermore, the information contained on the websites to which the Ministry refers through links on the Social Media it maintains, as well as the opinions/comments expressed therein, are exclusively for informational purposes and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Ministry. While the administrator exercises reasonable diligence and care in making posts on Social Media, it does not guarantee the reliability, accuracy, fully updated version, or completeness of the information contained on the websites to which it refers (“shared pages & links”).
The republication of content posted by the Ministry on the accounts it maintains on Social Media (through share/embed processes) on third-party or personal websites is subject to the condition that such content shall not be altered, modified, or changed in a way that contradicts the purposes of its publication.
Any personal data published on the Ministry’s Social Media are used exclusively for the purposes of those pages and always in compliance with personal data protection legislation. The Ministry does not use such data for other purposes.
The monitoring and updating of the Ministry’s Social Media accounts do not take place on a 24-hour basis. In emergency situations related to operational response, any incidents must be reported to the European Emergency Number 112 or to the emergency numbers of the Fire Service – 199, the Hellenic Police – 100, the National Emergency Aid Centre (EKAV) – 166, etc.
Messages, comments, and reports are read by the administrator, and personal responses may be given, as appropriate. The Ministry is not, however, obliged to respond to each of them.
The Ministry reserves, at its sole discretion, the right to update or amend this usage policy at any time and without notice, in order to ensure that it always aligns with the purposes of its presence on Social Media, always within the applicable legal framework, by means of their announcement through this website.
The terms of use of the respective online Social Media apply in parallel with this policy.
