The Ministry for Climate Crisis & Civil Protection (MCCCP) was established on 9-11-2021 (Presidential Decree 70/9-11-2021), following the recognition of the crucial interconnection of the two fields.
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection (GSCP) of the MCCCP promotes the country's relations in the field of Civil Protection with the competent international organizations and corresponding Civil Protection agencies of other countries, coordinates the provision of scientific or material assistance to and from other countries affected by disasters and makes use of similar assistance offered to our country (Law 4662/2020).
One of the areas of action of the National Crisis and Hazard Management Mechanism established by Law 4662/2020, for the prevention, preparedness, response and recovery of hazards, is the participation of our country in international mechanisms and Civil Protection systems.
Today, the GSCP is among the strongest National Civil Protection Authorities and is part of the "potential core" of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism, a fact reflected in the excellent relations that have developed at the highest level of the European Union.
