Evangelos Tournas, is served as a Minister from May 26th until the 26th of June 2023 in the Caretaker Government of Ioannis Sarmas, after having served as the Deputy Minister of the newly established Ministry for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection since 10 September 2021.
Born in Chania, Crete, he entered the Hellenic Air Force Academy in 1976 and graduated as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1980. He has served as Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff (HAFGS) from 7 March 2013 to 27 February 2015.
He has graduated from the Electronic Warfare School (EWS), the Hellenic Air Force War College (HAFWC) for Junior Officers, the Hellenic Air Force War College (HAFWC) for Senior Officers, and the Air Command and Staff College of the USA.
